Spay Illinois Pet Well Clinic
 Ales For Tails

June 2023
As the Graphic Designer for Spay Illinois, I was tasked with creating the marketing material for one of their annual charity events. This summer, Spay Illinois Pet Well Clinics, Miskatonic Brewing Company, and Heartgard have joined forces to celebrate dogs and cats and the people who love them with the first annual Ales for Tails Spokesdog and Spokescat contest. This contest runs from July to October and the winning pets get to be featured on a beer can.
For this project, I worked directly with the Development and Communications Director. We established that we wanted to broaden the range of their viewers, along with keeping a consistent design throughout the needed collateral. For the design, I took the winners of last year's Ales for Tails contest and used them as the centerpiece. By following Spay's identity guidelines, I used Avenir for the typeface, with different weights used for hierarchy. The realistic beer bottles and modern typeface is combined with a hazy background for a bold and attention-grabbing look.
For the new logo, they wanted something a little more contemporary. I decided to create a simple beer glass icon with the addition of a dog and cat tail. To bring the logo together, I included the title of the event along with the year in the typeface, Avenir.
The final design was used on print and digital platforms, including table tents for each of the sponsors. This material was also featured in the Chicago Tribune.
