Universal Principles of Design Poster Set Exhibition
Class Collaboration: Graphic Design 3
InDesign & Photoshop
The book, Universal Principles of Design, features 125 "Ways to Enhance Usability, Influence Perception, Increase Appeal, Make Better Design Decisions, and Teach Through Design." My classmates and I each created a 24" x 36" poster of one of 125 others that will tour galleries and museums to promote the book. These same posters could also be sold individually or in sets for display in homes, classrooms, and design studios. In theory, all 125 posters would need to, in some way, "stand out" and function individually and "relate" the all the other posters.
Through multiple critiques and in-class collaboration, my classmates and I designed 8 unique posters based on our assigned principle. We had a certain set of criteria that everyone needed to follow to create consistency. Our principal number needed to be the most prominent, every typeface and font size need to be the same, and we all had to use the same shade of blue seen on the book's cover.
